Community Heart (London) was set up to reach out to all people, especially young people mainly from disadvantaged backgrounds, to help and support them to realise their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The charity aims to accomplish this through different Sports and Education projects, a youth club and community outreach teams. The charity’s current projects include,

• Edmonton Eagles Amateur Boxing Club

• Running with the Vision –Youth Football

• Youth Zone Youth Club

•     Signpost

These three projects alone currently engage over 300 young people per week building good friendships through committed and caring mentors who help develop and enhance these young people’s lives.

All these projects have an ethos and vision to positively affect lives by teaching values, respect, building confidence and encouraging and rewarding those who demonstrate good character and set an example to others. This positive influence is going beyond the individuals that attend and affecting their families, schools and communities.

The projects are open to all youth, regardless of income, religion or ethnic background and their work, role and effect in the community is acknowledged and supported by the Metropolitan Police, The Football Foundation, Kick It Out, The Jack Petchey Foundation, the Local Council, Local MP’s and other local community groups.

We are delighted to announce that on Tuesday 19th March 2019, His Eminence, Archbishop Dr Costakis C. Evangelou was honoured with an MBE for his many faithful years of outstanding work and service to young people in North London. Archbishop Evangelou MBE said it was an incredible honour to receive his MBE from the Prince William, Duke of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace and to be recognised in this wonderful way.

Archbishop Evangelou  MBE has for over 30 years dedicated his life to the selfless service of others. As well as his ecclesiastical responsibilities and service, he is the President of Community Heart (London), a registered charity set up to help and support the local community, especially the young and vulnerable. As President he oversees the running of several ground breaking projects including, Edmonton Eagles Amateur Boxing Club, where he is the Head Coach and Honorary Secretary, Running with the Vision – Youth Football, Youth Zone Youth Club and Sign Post, a project that feeds and helps support the homeless and vulnerable. Under his continued direction and leading, the Edmonton Eagles ABC in 2015 received the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. Archbishop Evangelou MBE has run 4 London Marathons raising in excess of £30,000 for various charities.

In 2004 he travelled to an isolated community in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Negotiations with the Chief of the area resulted in the granting of a piece of land for the building of a medical clinic. The clinic was desperately needed by this community who had no other access to medical care. Now around 500 people a month receive medical treatment from the clinic.
